Game Creation Society is a student-run organization at Carnegie Mellon University, dedicated to the art and science of making games. Composed of individuals from all across the academic spectrum, GCS provides an environment for people of various disciplines to work together on projects as they would in a real development environment. Whatever your talents are, if you are interested in making games we can find a role for you!

If you want to get involved, come to a weekly meeting, join our mailing list, or contact an officer!

Spring Carnival!

This week is Carnival, which means we won't be having our normal meeting... but, we'll be doing our usual Arcade event on the fourth floor of Gates pretty much all weekend. The hours will be:

Thursday 2 - 6
Friday 11 - 5:30ish
Saturday 11 - 5:30ish

We'll be setting up our games to show off to the general public. If you want to nominate a game you've worked on for Carnival but haven't yet, LET KATIE KNOW. This is the last opportunity to do so! We will also have a playtesting table for current games-in-progress, so you can come and show your latest build if it's polished enough for the public to play.

Also, if you want to work one of the tables -- either at the main Carnival grounds or the Arcade in Gates -- just let Katie know or put times into the google doc: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjO4HzqxNbZJdGVoOHg1N0dmR3Q...

T-Shirt Competition Ends

Congratulations Katie Chironis, our t-shirt contest winner!

Collab session this Saturday from 12 - 6 in NSH 3305

Project leaders, please move your weekly meetings to the collab session if it's possible to do so. This is a great chance for everyone in GCS to get some solid hours of work done on projects, and it should be a lot of fun. Lunch will be served. If you're not working on a current GCS project (or don't have anything to do on that project) come hang out and do homework - the more the merrier!

Contests end this Friday!

The GCS T-shirt contest (http://www.gamecreation.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=420) and the Nietzsche-themed contest (http://www.gamecreation.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=425) both end this Friday at the start of the meeting. Bring entries to look at and/or send them to Katie and/or post them on the forums - we'll be holding a vote for both to determine winners. Just a reminder - the winner of the T-Shirt design contest gets $50 on Steam and two free shirts -- one for you and a compatriot. And if there's one thing women love, it's nerd-themed polyester shirts. Truth.

Volunteer to hang out at our Carnival booth. And nominate your games.

For those unfamiliar, we usually do a GCS Arcade at Carnival where we'll be showing off a ton of our games. We need people to work this Arcade. It's fun, it's nerdy, it's out of the hot sun and there will be food. So sign up:

Anyone who is in the club can nominate a game they've worked on to be displayed -- though we'll be prioritizing GCS projects and GCS contest entries, if you've worked on other games outside GCS with GCS members, you're welcome to nominate those too. Just go to the forum topic here:

So sign up to volunteer at Arcade! But, freshmen, please go enjoy Carnival! Before you can volunteer to make Carnival better, you must understand why Carnival is awesome. This is the first and greatest rule. Of Carnival.
