Game Creation Society is a student-run organization at Carnegie Mellon University, dedicated to the art and science of making games. Composed of individuals from all across the academic spectrum, GCS provides an environment for people of various disciplines to work together on projects as they would in a real development environment. Whatever your talents are, if you are interested in making games we can find a role for you!

If you want to get involved, come to a weekly meeting, join our mailing list, or contact an officer!

This Week in GCS

1. Our meeting is this Friday at in NSH 3002 @ 5. NOT 4:30! Which leads into the next point...

2. DoubleFine speaker! Anna Kipnis from DoubleFine (Psychonauts, Brutal Legend, Happy Action Theater, Stacking, Trenched, The Cave, etc) is going to be speaking to GCS this Friday over Skype. This is a new thing for us, and if it works out we'll probably try to do more Skype speaker talks in the future. Anna will be talking about her experiences at DoubleFine, about setting up MolyJam (a game jam centered around the tweets of a parody Twitter account of Peter Molydeux), and will be answering questions. Additionally, one of our GCS alums (Duncan Boehle) will also be around to answer questions at the end of the talk. :)

3. Board games! We're gonna play board games after the talk. I'm bringing a few (Dixit, Once Upon a Time) and other people are bringing some. If you have a game you want to play, go ahead and bring it.

The Meeting Where I Was Not

I was in Seattle last week, so I missed the meeting. I heard there was a title screen and some rad art.

Anyway, news:

GameMaker Workshop with Katie Chironis
Website - GameMaker: Studio
Time and Location TBA, but coming soon.

Also, we're going to try and make a calendar of the regularly scheduled meeting times for this semester's projects to help with scheduling things like the above workshop. That e-mail will be going out soon-ish.

See you Friday!
-Tim
