Time for anothe game competitions! The theme this time around is reflection. You may interpret it as you wish. It starts now and the deadline is February 6, 4:30 pm. Submit your entry in the form a playable executable (other rules may be found here).

We're not sure about prizes yet, though we're thinking of giving away some TF2 trading cards signed by Gabe Newell. Not sold in stores! (Note that you could only win a prize if you can actually come to meetings. We aren't mailing anything =P).

Anyway, have fun. I hope to see some kick-ass submissions!

I took reflection literally. This game uses the pygame webcam module I wrote over the summer, so it requires linux and a v4l2 compatible webcam (pretty much any USB one that works in linux will work).

It generates a jagged and changing world based on what the camera sees. You have to steer the heart from one side to the other without hitting anything. The heart then gets bigger and you start again. Note that in many cases, the world will actually be impossible, just like real life.

The game uses the latest pygame in SVN, so I compiled it and included it locally to the file. You can download versions for 32bit and 64bit linux. You could also download and compile the latest pygame from: http://www.pygame.org/wiki/cvs

Does this mean Nirav automatically wins or should we have another thread where we all vote for him as the winner?

You're a winner in my heart Nirav even if you weren't at the meeting today.
